Carly & Jim first met at Henley Rugby Club, which seemed like the perfect location for their pre-wedding shoot.

The annual Henley Youth Festival (HYF) has just finished, and I feel so privileged to have been part of it, photographing many of the incredible events that our children had the opportunity to be a part of under this year’s theme of ‘Journeys’.
Every year as part of the Henley Youth Festival, children have the opportunity to showcase their talents on stage in a professional theatre. The Kenton Theatre in Henley on Thames showcases different interests in HYF Proms, HYF Entertain, HYF Sing, HYF Young Dancer and HYF Dance.
I love this location for a family photoshoot, and autumn was the perfect time to get all the family together. The youngest was DESPERATE to start throwing the leaves around, but I persuaded him to let me get a few photos of them all looking lovely before he pelted them with leaves!
When I was asked to contribute a prize for an auction at my son’s school ball I was happy to oblige. I was pleased to find that there were a few families bidding for the family shoot offered & delighted when I realised I would have the opportunity to spend time photographing Kate, Sundeep & their gorgeous girls. I hope you like the photos!
I photographed the fabulous 21st birthday party of Jonny’s sister a couple of years ago, so suspected that Jonny’s 21st would also be something a bit special & I wasn’t disappointed. This family knows how to throw a party! Jonny’s party centred around a Chemistry theme, & the marquee & staff looked simply amazing. How much of your Chemistry GCSE comes back to you when looking at the Periodic Table cupcakes?!
While I would love to have my own studio, I unfortunately don’t have a big enough house for one & am reluctant to pay a lot of rent to maintain one. I also love natural family photography so have been more than happy to arrange family photoshoots in the great outdoors or at people’s homes, as can be seen on my website & on this blog.
As my friend approached the date of her third child’s first birthday, she felt she needed some more photos of her daughter up around the house to go alongside the photos of her two sons. I suspect most of us parents have a sense of what she was feeling – we take hundreds (or possibly thousands if you’re a photographer) of photos of our first child and put the photos all over the house.
